Most Bittern Press titles are of specialist interest and unlikely to become bestsellers, although two (Making Musicians and Knowing Britten) have won prestigious prizes.
So how do we finance our books? Funding comes from a variety of sources, including trusts and public-spirited individuals with an interest in a particular upcoming publication.
All those who have funded our work will be listed on this website and the name of each donor will appear at the front of the book, where a donation has been made towards the publication of a specific title. (Donors can of course remain anonymous if preferred.)
We would like to establish an interested group of supporters to whom we could offer more detailed information than is possible on the website.
Our overheads, while modest and tightly controlled, are not inconsiderable. We are extremely grateful for donations that allow us to continue to prepare books for publication that would otherwise not be financially viable.
If you are a UK taxpayer, any donation can qualify for Gift Aid, meaning that Bittern Press will receive an additional amount (currently 25p for every £1 donated).
If you would like more information about donating towards the work of Bittern Press, please contact Christine Airey on bitternpress@musician.org.
